Yamhill County Sheriff's Office Street Crimes and Narcotics (SCAN) Team YC SCAN Team logo

In response to the growing threat posed by fentanyl and the broader epidemic of illicit drug use in our communities, I am announcing the formation of a dedicated drug enforcement team within Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office. This specialized unit, the Street Crimes and Narcotics (SCAN) team, will focus its efforts on aggressively combating the trafficking, distribution, and use of dangerous narcotics – with fentanyl being our top priority.

Every life in Yamhill County is valuable, and the devastating impact of these drugs has touched too many families. The safety, health and future of our community depend on strong, proactive measures. This new drug enforcement team will work in close partnership with local, state and federal agencies to identify and dismantle drug operations, while also supporting community outreach and education efforts aimed at prevention.

Our mission is clear: to protect lives by removing these poisons from our streets. This is not just about enforcement—it’s about saving lives, supporting recovery, and ensuring a safer future for all.

As your Sheriff, I remain committed to transparency and accountability. I will continue to keep the public informed as we advance this critical initiative.  Together, we can fight back against this crisis.

Sincerely,
Sheriff Sam Elliott
Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office
