Online Marriage License Application Process
How to apply
- Complete the Online Marriage Application. If you are unable to complete the online application before your appointment, please call our office for assistance.
- Call the office to schedule an appointment to purchase the license (503) 434-7518. Appointments are required and available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Important Details
- Both parties must be 18 years of age.
- Both applicants must provide a driver's license or other acceptable photo ID for identification.
- License must be purchased before a ceremony is performed. The license fee is $50 cash, cashier's check or money order. We are unable to accept personal checks, debit, or credit cards.
- There is a 3-day waiting period from the date of issuance before the license becomes effective. If you need to have the 3-day waiting period waived, you must request the waiver before the license is issued. The cost for waiving the waiting period is $25 cash, cashier's check or money order.
- License is valid for 60 days and can be used in any county in Oregon. No extensions of time or refunds of money can be made once the license is issued. No blood tests are required.
- These fees do not include any type of wedding ceremony. Please see below who may perform a ceremony and an officiant list.
- The final divorce or dissolution of Domestic Partnership date is required on the license application. A license cannot become valid until the day after the divorce or dissolution is final, and a three-day waiting period is still required from the date of issuance until the license can be used.
- After your marriage certified copies can be obtained at the Clerk's office where your license was purchased. Please see below how to request certified copies.
- Oregon State law does not allow a marriage license to be issued to parties that are first cousins or nearer kin.
- You will need (2) witnesses, at least 18 years of age, at your ceremony.
If you need an interpreter/translator for written and/or oral communication, please bring one with you. We do not have anyone in this office who speaks Spanish. ¡INFORMACION IMPORTANTE!: Tendra que comunicarse y llenar formas en Ingles. Who May Perform A Ceremony
- Judges, Justices of Peace, or County Clerks
- Persons appointed to perform the ceremony by a religious organization (i.e., ministers, pastors, priests, rabbis etc.)
- Celebrant or officiant of a secular organization who is authorized by that organization to solemnize marriages
An appointment for a civil ceremony performed by a judge or the County Clerk should be made with the respective office staff. An in-office ceremony performed by the County Clerk during office hours is $117 cash, cashier's check or money order. We are unable to accept personal checks, debit, or credit cards. Witnesses can be provided for an additional charge.

Note: Yamhill County interprets ORS 106.150 "in the presence of" to mean that both parties, the officiant, and two witnesses must be physically present in the same room, without the use of any electronic means or technology such as Skype, Zoom or telephone, throughout the ceremony.
